With reference to paragraph 5 of my Confidenti- 1-al Despatch of the 24th. of December, I have the honour to inform

you that the 4 persons held to ransom have now returned to the Colony having escaped from their captivity. I am taking steps to endeavour to obtain identification by them of the place in which they were so long detained.
